Where are you from? I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina. Well, really I’m from Denver, NC and I’ve lived in Jackson for about 3 years now.
What is your role in the department? Volunteer out of Station 7.
How long have you been a part of JH Fire/EMS? Since the Fall of 2021.
What made you want to join JH Fire/EMS? I wanted to give back to the community and to make connections. I also always wanted to be a firefighter. One of my really good college buddies is a firefighter in Chicago.
What are your current certifications? Hazmat, Redcard, Fire 1 and hopefully EMT-B in the Spring.
What are your future goals in the department? I would like to become a full-time staff member at some point soon.
What do you do for work? I’m a medical assistant for Teton Orthopedics.
What do you do in your free time? Ski, hike, paddleboard…normal Jackson things.
What is your favorite part of volunteering? Making a difference when I can. Being able to help somebody when their day is really shitty.
Have you had any standout calls where you felt like you achieved that or where you felt like that was satisfied? Yeah, the Blair Place apartment fire which was my first fire and I went around and collected people’s belongings and valuables.
What advice would you give new recruits? Have fun! Enjoy it.
What do you wish you had known when starting? Not really, no. I felt pretty prepared for Academy.
What is the most important trait for someone on JH Fire/EMS? The ability to be flexible and do whatever people ask of you.
