Where are you from? Technically, I’m from all over. I was born in Libya, lived in Texas until I was seven then we moved around to Tulsa and Chicago, and I lived there for 25 years.

What is your role in the department? I am a volunteer, so I pitch in wherever I can.

How long have you been a part of JH Fire/EMS? Since the Fall of 2020, in October.

What made you want to join in the beginning? Oh man, a lot of reasons…I mean, the main drivers were to be a bigger part of the community and I just think the work is fun. I like working as a team and I love learning new skills. All the new people you meet are a perk too.

What are your current certifications? Firefighter 1, EMR, Hazmat Awareness and Operations and I have my Redcard.

What are your future goals in the department? To try to be an active member and try to contribute to the station as much as I can.

What do you do for work? I own Jackson Hole Wildlife Safaris.

What do you do in your free time? A lot of skiing, a lot of mountain biking, a lot of floating on the river, and taking my dogs for walks.

Do you have a favorite part of volunteering? Working as a team and solving problems.

What about the most satisfying or rewarding part? The people. Being a part of the community and trying to help out in any way you can.

What advice would you give new recruits? Good question…I’d say make sure you really want it and come in humble.

What is the most important skill or trait for someone working as a volunteer here? Teamwork: being a good team player is pretty critical.

Do you have someone you look up to in the department? Lizzie’s my mentor; she’s awesome.
