Admin

Where are you from? I am from Star Valley.

In your own words, what is your role in the department? I would say that my main job would be to pull electrical permits for contractors as well as pay bills and order supplies and that sort of thing.

What do you do in your free time? I really like being outside, golfing, fishing, that kind of thing.

How long have you been a part of the department? I think…I started in July so about 8 months.

What were you doing before that made you want to work for JH Firem/EMS? My brother was a firefighter here and so I kind of grew up in a fire family, so that’s what drew me here initially. Before I did that, I was a vet tech.

Would you ever go the firefighter route? I don’t know, I’ve thought about it though.

So you mentioned that you grew up in a fire family: was that beyond your brother? So my uncle and my dad also, but they were just volunteers, so this is my first time seeing how the career side works.

Do you have a favorite part of this job? Everyone is just so nice, it doesn’t matter if it’s prevention or career and the volunteers are all so nice and welcoming. I love how many people come over and talk to me a bit from all different parts of the department.

What advice would you give new recruits? The admin office is not scary! Sometimes volunteers come in and they just seem super scared.

What do you think is the most valuable trait for someone to have working for the department? I would say being a people person and being outgoing and friendly.

What do you think you bring to the department? Oh boy…I don’t know, I feel like a pretty basic person! I would say I try to be super nice to everyone and just try to be friendly all around.
