Station 2: Wilson
This firehouse is located at 1315 North West Street in Wilson, with the Volunteer Fire Department being established in 1965. 8 volunteers call Station 2 home and they protect the Town of Wilson and the surrounding rural areas.
The volunteers, also, serve as supplementary resources for any large incident that overwhelms other stations’ resources. The building itself is 4,000 square feet and houses five apparatus: a wildland engine, a structural engine, a water tender, and a rescue vehicle. This fire house has a meeting room, a kitchen, general storage, and the apparatus floor which holds the aforementioned vehicles as well as all of its members’ gear. The members of the Wilson Station respond to building and vehicle fire emergencies, car accidents that require emergency medical responders, and all other emergencies within the region at any time of day. Volunteer staff and firefighters go through rigorous training to be prepared to handle any threat to public safety. We appreciate the work of these volunteers that sacrifice their time and their safety to keep our community safe!
